Help · Making and printing codes
My code won't scan
The usual reasons a printed QR code doesn't scan, and a check that finds which one it is.
Check it
The code check asks Kifuna's printed-code service what a scan of your code gets right now. If it's your code, it also checks its plan, where it goes and whether its design scans at the size you printed it. You can add a photo of the printed code: your phone reads it, and the photo isn't uploaded.
What a scan shows tells you most
- “This QR code isn't active.” The code's plan has ended or the code is paused. Scanners see this until it's turned back on: see what happens when a plan ends.
- “This link was blocked for safety.” See blocked codes and changes we didn't publish.
- “QR code not found.” The printed link isn't a code. Usually the on-screen preview was printed instead of the downloaded file: previews use a placeholder link. Download the code and print that.
- The wrong page opens. Change where the code goes: see changing a code after printing.
If the camera doesn't react at all
The phone can't read the print. The usual reasons:
- It's printed too small for the distance. See printing and sizing.
- The colors came out too light, or the code is light on a dark background, which some phone cameras can't read.
- Glare from a glossy finish, glass or a light.
- The white border was cropped, or the code is creased, curved or partly covered.
- The image was flipped (mirrored) somewhere along the way.
